FreedomPay Announces Corporate Art Initiative Highlighting Philadelphia’s World Class Arts Community as Part of Its Relocation to Center City
Company Launches Philadelphia Artist Series: Exploring the Kinship between Art and Technology
Philadelphia, PA – September 22, 2017 – FreedomPay, the global leader in secure commerce technology for lodging, gaming, retail, restaurants, stadiums and other hospitality merchants, today announced the launch of the Philadelphia Artist Series to bring the city’s rich and vibrant arts culture to the workplace. To launch this initiative, the company commissioned artwork from several area artists that will be displayed in FreedomPay’s new corporate headquarters in the FMC Tower, located in the University City neighborhood of downtown Philadelphia.
FreedomPay, which recently moved into the nearly 25,000 square foot office space, wanted to create an engaging environment for its employees that not only reflected the company’s ideals, but also embraced the region’s contributions to the arts. As such, the company worked with local arts consultants to identify and commission three local artists to collaborate with FreedomPay’s employees and create unique pieces that highlight the company’s technological innovation.
“When we moved our offices into downtown Philadelphia, we wanted to create a space for our employees that not only provided the latest innovations and amenities, but also exposed them to the city’s rich artistic heritage. Both technology and the arts have the unique ability to inspire people and by making our office a forum for local artists to showcase their creativity, we believe we are creating an environment that talented individuals will want to be a part of,” said Tom Durovsik, Founder and CEO of FreedomPay. “I’ve been involved in the arts my entire career and know the value it will provide to our company culture.”
The artists that created works for FreedomPay include:
- Meredith Sellers – Meredith is a Philadelphia-based artist and writer who received an interdisciplinary MFA from University of Pennsylvania, and a BFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has exhibited work at ICA Philadelphia, Lord Ludd, the Icebox Project Space, Delaware County Community College, and Vox Populi. Her work interrogates and translates the nature of the aggregated image, illusion, and perception. She is an editor for Philadelphia arts publication Title Magazine, writes regularly for Hyperallergic, and has had her writing published in ArtsJournal, Pelican Bomb, The Artblog, The St. Claire, and Daily Serving. Meredith’s work titled “Cloud” measures 68 X 84 inches, graphite on paper.
- Nate Harris – Nate is a graphic artist with a focus on bold, colorful and often character-driven work. He divides his time between woodworking, printmaking and illustration, approaching each project with a unique combination of disciplines. Nate is currently a member of the art collective Space 1026, an iconic space for the most talented young artists in Philadelphia. He was been commissioned for large-scale murals by Navy Yard Philadelphia, Target (Rittenhouse, Philadelphia), Adobe, A&G, and Elixr Coffee. Nate’s work titled “THE ENGINEERS” measures 84 X 84 inches acrylic on wood.
- True Hand Society – True Hand is a creative studio featuring graphic design services in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood. The studio is a one-of-a-kind creative destination that works with restaurants, lifestyle brands and an eclectic range of passionate small businesses to create energetic and creative hubs for the visual landscape in Philadelphia and beyond. The artistic team features Mike Ski, Jessie Jay, and Julianna Lose. True Hand’s work titled “SCRUM ROOM” is a latex, 114.5 x 216 inch wall mural.
“Working with FreedomPay’s team to conceptualize and create this artwork was a challenging endeavor and exciting opportunity for True Hand,” said Mike Ski.
“We’re excited to be part of the Philadelphia Artist Series at the ground level, and look forward to watching the series grow and expand over time,” added Meredith Sellers.
