Philadelphia is a place with overwhelming local pride and a strong spirit of giving. The companies that choose to headquarter here are committed to helping local nonprofit organizations throughout the year, and one way the business community gives back is by taking part in the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House’s Philalympics.
This lively and comical corporate challenge always makes for a memorable day for everyone involved. Local companies get their most talented team members together to compete against each other in Philadelphia-themed games. Participants face off in adult tricycle races, slingshot games, and Philly-based trivia, all culminating in a coronation ceremony to crown the “phunnest” company in Philadelphia.
When FreedomPay, an advanced commerce platform founded in 2000 with proud Philadelphia roots, learned about this challenge, we knew we had to be a part of this “phun” and worthwhile event! Not only will it serve as an excellent team building activity, this event is also an entertaining networking opportunity for FreedomPay. Most importantly, it raises funds for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House, with the goal for this year’s Philalympics’ set at $50,000. FreedomPay has drafted fifteen of our most enthusiastic, talented employees to participate, and it is our team goal to raise a donation of at least $2,500.
The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House (PRMH) supports families of seriously ill children by creating a community of comfort and hope. Its programs include two Ronald McDonald Houses that serve up to 65 families each night, two Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia offering a quiet space away from the bedside, a Hospitality Kiosk at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children which provides complimentary snacks and other amenities to families with children in critical care units, and the Ronald McDonald Camp located in the Poconos.
The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House’s 2017 Philalympics will be held on August 23rd at the Wells Fargo Center located at 3601 South Broad Street, with event parking in C-Lot (entrance through Broad Street Gate, Broad Street Entrance). Doors will open at 4:00 pm for check-in and networking.
FreedomPay loves our Philly-community, and are beyond excited to be a part of this year’s Philalympics–it is certain to be a tremendous success and a wonderful, “phun” event for each and every participant.
